Accuracy is a continuing obligation. When Qstage confirms that published material is materially wrong, we correct the article promptly and explain the change where readers can see it.
What receives a correction
Incorrect facts, figures, dates, names, descriptions, links that change the meaning of a story, and missing context that creates a materially false impression all require correction. Minor spelling or formatting repairs may be made without a note when they do not change meaning.
How corrections appear
A substantive correction is appended to the article with the date, the inaccurate point, and the corrected information. The original error is not silently erased from the public record. If the central premise cannot be repaired, Qstage will retract the article and explain why.
Developing stories
An update is not automatically a correction. New information is marked as an update when the earlier account was accurate at publication time. If the earlier account was inaccurate, the change is labeled a correction.
