A cineasta de “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” e “Nightbitch” Marielle Heller deve escrever e dirigir uma adaptação live-action de “FernGully”, que está em desenvolvimento no Amazon MGM Studios.
Heller também produzirá o projeto, baseado no clássico animado “FernGully: The Last Rainforest”, sob seu banner Defiant By Nature com Leah Holzer. O filme também é produzido por Stacey Sher via Shiny Penny; Susan Ursitti‑Sheinberg, Jon Sheinberg e Matt Feige através da Sheinberg Feige Organization (SFO Entertainment). Moonli Singha será o produtor executivo.
O clássico animado de 1992 “FernGully” seguiu os habitantes mágicos de uma floresta tropical enquanto eles lutavam para salvar sua casa, que está ameaçada pela extração de madeira e por uma força poluente de destruição chamada Hexxus. O filme contou com um elenco de vozes de estrelas, incluindo Robin Williams, Tim Curry, Christian Slater e Samantha Mathis, e músicas de Elton John e Jimmy Buffet.
Gritar! A Factory continua a distribuir o filme FernGully original. O acordo com a Amazon MGM Studios foi negociado pela Verve Talent e Fischbach, Perlstein, Lieberman & Almond LLP.
